Hi, I'm Marisa. I'm fun, funny, brilliant, sweet, sassy, a bit rebellious, sometimes a little loud, but I'm always about making people happy.
Why a rebel? Being a rebel means, going against the norm, and that's one of the things I bring to the table. If you embrace your rebelliousness, and are looking to create memories that are less posed, and actually tell your real life stories, then I think we'd be a great match.
I've been capturing moments and memories as a mainly lifestyle photographer for just about 5 years now, with a large focus on natural light, in natural surroundings. From weddings, boudoir and maternity, to landscape calendars, post cards and large prints, I strive to be the best I can be for you, and give you the realness that I truly believe, belongs in our visual memories. This doesn't mean that you won't get some 'posed' images, in the mix, just that the mix will be predominately lifestyle images.
Posed vs. Lifestyle
We all know the traditional posed photos. The prom stance, the forced smiles, the awkward head tilts with everyone looking at an invisible unicorn, slightly to their left....OR my favorite the famous head shot, with the faded side profile in the background. WHY???
Not to mention, if you have kids, you know how hard it can be to get one of them to smile on command, let alone ALL of them and you at the same exact time. This is how we end up with teary eyed photos and sessions that result in the bribery and pleading of good behavior, for just.one.shot.
This is why I prefer lifestyle, I start out with letting the kids be a little silly and encourage you to do so, as well. Being silly with our partners and children is such incredibly important memories to hold onto and usually something we only get in snapshots, and since the discovery of smart phones, we don't get a lot of opportunities to frame these important moments. Not to mention, one of you is always missing from the photo. THIS is where I come in. I give you the opportunity to participate in these moments, while I lightly direct and document them. Then, like some magical trickery, I throw in a few guided poses, and boom everyone walks away happy.
